Folding Photograph Holder for Xena Set Continuity Photo Occasionally I make things that aren't books at all. This is a folding leather photo frame for a single unusual & rare photo. During filming of TV shows and movies, makeup people and others take photos on the set to make sure that makeup or special effects can be replicated if the scene has to be re-shot. In this case, it's a one-of-a-kind set photo from the Xena TV show. It shows Lucy Lawless as Xena with a special effects cut on her upper arm. These photos were usually thrown away soon after filming. But this one survived thanks to a set carpenter. It needed a special holder so I made one with a "Xena" feel to it out of dark brown leather, a raised design similar to the design on Xena's upper armband which appears in the photo, and outlined the design with leather strips fastened with antiqued studs. A piece of paper mounted opposite the photo explains what it is and where it came from. There is no glass or protective cover on the photo; I'm assuming it will be stored closed most of the time and that will protect it. A folding photo frame like this would cost around $225. I am not set up to do this the way I am set up to make books, so even though it's small, it can actually take longer to make. |
