Custom  Xena  Collector  Binding

This extravagant binding was made to hold an entire year of the Xena Prop House online publication.  Each month's newsletter was printed out in full color and then bound into a single volume.  The design on the cover depicts one of the costume gauntlets (flattened out) used on the show, only reproduced entirely in leather.  Even the large beads and the small beads on the leather cord are made out of leather.  The pages size is 8.5" wide by 11" tall and this book, since it is made up of single sheets of paper, was oversewn on an oversewing machine for an extremely durable result.  The cover is predominantly dark brown goatskin leather.  The lettering on the spine was added using moveable metal type and gold stamping foil.  The Xena Prop House logo on the front was added using a custom metal die and gold foil.  The gauntlet is made up of tan Italia calf leather, Sokoto goatskin leathers in tan, light blue, and electric blue, black smooth goatskin leather pared down thin by hand to take the shape of the black tribal decorations, British bookcalf in butter yellow, small strips of pigskin leather in black, tan leather cord, brass rivets, and base metal D-rings.  This book is loosely held closed by the straps of the gauntlet which wrap around to the back and feed through another leather strap.  Something with this many pieces using this many different types of leather is extremely time-consuming to make and I like to have several months available for a project like this.  It is a challenge to reproduce an image entirely out of leather, but the results can come very close to the desired object depicted on the cover.  See below a photo of the real gauntlet that I was working from.

A book involving this many pieces on an intricate cover design can only be priced on a per-order basis.
