Pair of Leather Wine Journals with Personal Logo This pair of journals (one for red wine and one for white wine) was ordered as a gift for my customer's husband who is a wine collector and likes to keep notes on wine. This is a good example of how you can get almost anything you want, as long as price is not an object. My customer really wanted leather covers in a good burgundy wine color and a good light tan white wine color. I found the leather, but the leather for EACH BOOK cost around $130 (before I did any of the work on them). They are very nice goatskin leathers ordered specifically for this project. Each book has 75 lined 8.5"x11" pages. A custom die was ordered to stamp the husband's logo on the front covers in gold. Gold lettering was added to the spine along with blind stamped lines around raised cords at the top and bottom of each spine. A fun detail on these books is the endpaper. As you can see in the photo at the bottom of this page, the endpapers are something called "corkskin" which is paper made of actual cork. I thought it was especially fitting for books meant to contain notes on wine. Largely due to the cost of the cover leather, something like these books would cost around $230 EACH plus the cost of the metal die used to add the logo to the front cover. The cost for a die of this size would be roughly $65. |
