Topographic Map Travel Journal
This has been a popular design for me. Since I am getting away from having a large stock of ready-made journals, this style is now available only by custom order. However, this is good news for you since you can tell me how many pages you want and if you want them to be lined or unlined (some people have me make this journal for them with lined pages and a section of unlined pages in the middle or at the back of the book so they can use the lined pages for writing and the unlined pages for sketching). The price below applies to this design with a resonable number of pages. If you want a very large size, TONS of pages, or if you want this cover design on a photo album, the book will cost more than the price listed below.
You can also specify the color of the stamping foil for the compass points on the back cover (gold, silver, copper, or one of about 5 other colors; please e-mail me for details).
Typically, I'd like to have 4 weeks to complete a custom order (but it may take less time depending on how busy I am when the order is placed...please e-mail me to ask about current turnaround time).
Here are some details about how this type of book is constructed:
Page size: 7"x 8 and 1/4"
Pages are handsewn in signatures with cotton thread (by sewing the book this way, it will lay open completely flat).
Decorative endpapers.
Flysheets are decorative topographic-textured paper. (The topographic map design on the cover is mirrored in the flysheets.)
Cover is made from built-up layers of tag board and binder's board.
Boards are covered with an extremely dark green pigskin leather which has been worked into the relief design. The back of the book is hot-foil stamped with a compass point decoration. There is a single leaf in foil at the base of the spine (the same leaf that is in the center of the compass point design on the back of the book).
Made with all archival adhesives.
This book was entirely handmade from start to finish.
This is designed to be a very unique and durable travel journal.
