Journal  for  a  Stargate  SG-1  Fan  with  Attached Penlight

This journal is small but very detailed.  It has 200 pages that are 7" wide by 8" tall.  This book is roughly 1" thick which was necessary to have room for the attached penlight.  This book was created for a fan of the TV show Stargate SG-1.  She particularly liked one of the characters on the show, Dr. Janet Frasier, who always carried a penlight with her.  There are so many details to this book that it was hard to photograph them all!  The cover is black pigskin leather.  There is a raised design of the stargate complete with the tiny symbols depicted on it.  It is also accented with gold foil to reproduce the areas of the gate that light up.  The Stargate lettering was reproduced using lettering I already had and the tiny corresponding symbols appear, raised, above it.  At the front edge of the cover, I constructed an industrial-looking penlight holder from galvanized pipe clamps, re-shaped to fit correctly.  They are held in place with brass screws and provide a very secure holder for the working penlight.  Inside the cover there are black endpapers with gold and silver marbling as well as a Stargate SG-1 crew patch permanently mounted in a small recess in the front cover.  The title page has a printed image of Dr. Frasier and her penlight.  There are also quotes from the show stamped on various parts of the cover: some can only be seen when the book is open.  This was created as a gift and I charged only for the materials used in making the book (so as to avoid any copyright conflicts), so I probably could not make and sell another book with the Stargate theme.  However, I wanted to add it here to show what sort of detail and interesting accessories (the penlight) are possible.  Something with this muct detail could cost in the neighborhood of $650.
