Set  of  Four  Large  Brown  Leather Wedding  Albums  in  Slipcases

Rarely, a project comes along where money is truly no object.  This 4-album set was created for a very successful businessman and his wife who had recently been married.  A friend of the couple wanted to give them a truly unique and completely one-of-a-kind gift.  She had 4 images she wanted to use on each of the 4 covers.  They were; a photograph from the engagement party of the engagement ring being slipped onto the finger of the wife-to-be ("The Ring"), a photograph of the kiss that followed the official engagement ("The Kiss"), an image of the MGM mansion in Las Vegas where the engagement party was held ("The Mansion at MGM"), and an image of the amazing monumental seaside chuppah wedding location in Israel ("The Trask").  Each of these images was converted into a line drawing by me (with some help from my boss Chris, who enjoys doing architectural drawings, on the MGM image) and each line drawing was made into a large metal die so that the images could be blind stamped (without foil) into the leather on each cover.  Each album was roughly 9" wide by 12" tall.  The endpapers were handmade Italian marbled paper.  The cover leather was goatskin.  Each album had a unique title on the spine and caption on the back cover corresponding to the cover image.  Each album also had a slipcase made for it covered in dark brown linen bookcloth and lined with archvial paper.  Due to the size of each album, each book took a great deal of time to construct and the cost of the materials and the dies used for the cover images was substantial.  But the results were completely unique, tailored specifically to this couple, and absolutely one-of-a-kind.

Each book and slipcase set in this custom order cost around $520 (including the cost of having the large cover dies made) meaning that a 4-book and slipcase order similar to this would cost around $2,100.
