Rust Leather Guest Book with Custom Snowflake Stained Glass Window Design This wedding guest book was small but very personal. It measured 6" tall by 10" wide. This was made for a couple in Scotland who were getting married in a church that had stained glass windows designed by one of their relatives. The snowflake design on the front cover was one of the designs from one of windows in the Our Lady of the Snows Chapel in Corgarff. The snowflake design was made into a metal die so the image could be stamped on the cover in silver. It took quite a bit of time to extract and simplify the snowflake design from the original image of the actual window before the design was clear enough to be make into a metal die. Obviously, due to the personal nature of this design, this snowflake design will only be used on this guest book and will not be repeated. The pages of this book are a mottled tan parchment paper (instead of the usual white or off-white) and the endpapers were a subtley textured dark gray/green (see photo below). The cover is rust/orange/brown pigskin leather. The cover has a nice clean look to is and it is still something that is very personal to this family. Though this book is small, the custom snowflake design added a lot of time and some cost to the project. A book like this with a custom-designed die requiring the same amount of time would cost around $160 PLUS the cost of having the die made. |
