Pine Bough Guest Book
This landscape-format guest book was made for a Bar Mitzvah. It was roughly 7" x 10" and had about 40 pages of blank, archival paper. The guest of honor enjoyed camping in the Maine woods so a raised design incorporating the branch of a fir tree and pine cones was requested. The raised design was built up in several layers under green pigskin leather and had a nice 3-D quality. The spine has 3 pairs of raised cords stamped on either side with lines in pewter-colored foil. The Star of David on the back cover of the book is also stamped in pewter. The initals and date on the front cover and spine were stamped using moveable metal type, hot foil stamping, and silver stamping foil. I like the subtle combination of the silver and pewter foils. This book also has a silver satin ribbon page marker.
