Orchid Guest Book, Album & Clamshell Box with Sliding Drawer Compartment
This 2-book and box set features the orchid design that the couple's wedding stationery designer designed for them. It was used with her permission (though I cannot use this image on another book). The orchid was made into a custom metal die for stamping on the book cover. This is dark brown linen bookcloth stamped in dark brown stamping pigment. I loved that these books (one book is the guest book and one is the wedding photo album) were only 6.5" tall by 8.5" wide. I get many requests for large, grandiose-scale wedding books and I thought that the small size of these made them not only easier for wedding guests to handle, but more personal. Also, with a small wedding album, you are guaranteed that you only include the best photos! A second custom die was made for the monogram logo on the front of each book (also designed by the stationery designer). The books are kept in a clamshell box that has a false bottom with a siding drawer top (you pull on the ribbon loop to open the drawer). The bride wanted to keep mementos cards, etc. in the box with the books. The wedding colors were dark brown and turquoise, so the books and box were accented with turquoise ribbon page markers and turquoise endpapers. These books also had sheer orchid print endpapers and a printed title page. Each book is slightly different with a quote on the back of the guest book and orchids only on the back of the album.
Though the books in this set were small, it was a complicated project including two custom made metal dies for stamping on the cover. A project similar to this would cost around $800.
