Oversized  Multiple  Water  Rings  Book

I have been contacted over the years by several customers who tell me they want me to make them a blank book in which they can hand-write the Bible.  Those inquiries never ended up resulting in a order...until now. This customer took the time to figure out how many pages he'd need and what the page size needed to be in order for him to hand-write the entire Bible.  There's a reason that mass-produced Bibles are printed on something that looks like rice paper...there are MANY MANY pages.  This book had 600 pages (that's 1,200 page SIDES to write on) and pushed the upper limits of how thick I can make a book.  The page size is 13" tall by 10" wide.

I have also been contacted over the years by several customers who wanted me to make a leaf-on-the-water book cover design, only with multiple water rings.  Due to the cost and difficulty, those inquiries never ended up resulting in an order...until this book.  This book cover is antique blue cowhide and the front has a single water ring design with a symbol representing "alpha" at the center stamped in pewter foil.  The back cover has a water ring design with two water rings (plus one "ring" overlapping from the design on the front cover) with an omega symbol stamped in silver at the center.  This book also has lovely gray-tone marbled endpapers (the endpapers are handmade, but not by me).

This book required lots of materials, lots of sewing time, two metal dies for stamping the symbols on the cover, and MUCH more time to create the multiple water ring design than it takes to create a single water ring design.  This finished book weighed an incredible 25 pounds.  There's a photo of me at the bottom of the page but you still really can't appreciate how large it is.  I wish my customer the best of luck in filling the book!

A book like this would cost around $900.
