Mormon  Nauvoo  Illinois  Journal

This journal was created for a Mormon book dealer.  He wanted something slightly traditional (leather, with raised cords on the spine) that reflected the roots of the Mormon religion in Nauvoo, Illinios.  This book has 200 unlined pages that are 9" tall by 6" wide.  The book is roughly 1" thick.  The cover is tan Sokoto goatskin leather which really takes blind embossing nicely.  The cover features a raised image of the state of Illinois with the location of the town of Nauvoo marked with a gold-stamped star and blind embossed lettering.  In the lower left corner there is a blind stamped image of the front and side views of the first Mormon temple.  Everything on this cover is blind stamped except the small gold star marking the town of Nauvoo.

A book like this would cost around $240 not including the metal die needed for stamping the temple image.
