Mermaid Journal Book & Box Set
This blank journal and box set was created for a woman who just really liked mermaids! The 8.5" x 11" journal was filled with cream-colored paper with light brown lines printed on it. The endpapers were printed with a lovely pale green swirl design reminiscent of swirling water. The cover is dark green pigskin leather with a raised mermaid relief that is accented with gold pigment on the tail and hair. The spine has raised cords with a wave design on them and the initials of the recipient. The matching custom clamshell box has a raised wave design on the front and the back. It is more challenging to create a rounded raised design than a flat one and that is reflected in the cost...not to mention that each "scale" on the mermaid tail was applied by hand, one at a time, before the leather was added to the cover.
A set like this would cost approximately $750.
