Leaf on the Water Book
This has been on of my most popular designs. Since I am getting away from having a large stock of ready-made journals, this style is now available only by custom order. However, this is good news for you since you can tell me how many pages you want and you can choose the overall size of the book (if the pages are unlined, it can be any rectangular or square shape, if you want lined paper, it has to be one of two sizes...contact me for more details). You can also tell me where on the cover you want the leaf placed and what color you would like the leaf to be.
The price below applies to this design with a resonable number of pages. If you want a very large size, TONS of pages, or if you want this cover design on a photo album, the book will cost more than the price listed below.
Typically, I'd like to have 4 weeks to complete a custom order (but it may take less time depending on how busy I am when the order is placed...please e-mail me to ask about current turnaround time).
Here are some details about how this type of book is constructed:
Pages are handsewn in signatures with cotton thread (by sewing the book this way, it will lay open completely flat).
Decorative endpapers.
Cover is made from built-up layers of tag board and binder's board.
The leaf on the cover is made from a hand-cut paper. This leaf is glued to the surface of the cover. The leaf is then treated with museum-quality clear wax to help protect it.
Boards are covered with a dark blue cow hide with a bit of a light-and-dark mottled quality. As you can see in the photo above, the ring design is continuous from the front to the back cover. This book feels very nice to hold, since it has a relief design on the front and the back.

Entirely handmade from start to finish.
This book has been used in the past as a journal and even as a wedding guest book.
