Small Wedding Album with Reproduced Italian Watercolor Painting This customer wanted a small wedding album (have I mentioned how much I love SMALL wedding albums?) with an "Italian" look. I thought it should have traditional elements like raised cords on the spine, marbled endpapers, and should be done in a traditional tan Italia calf (which, unfortunately, I can no longer get). This customer purchased a watercolor landscape painting in Italy that she wanted on the front cover. I thought that all of the decoration and lettering should be blind stamped without foil so that the cover painting was not overwhelmed by all of the other decoration on the book. This book has 33 off-white pages with room for photos to be mounted on one side of each page. I think it's a great idea to cut your wedding photos down to just 32 (one page was to have the invitation on it) incredible photos, instead of hundred and hundreds of images. The pages are 8" square. This customer wanted a very romantic and decorative font for the title, so we had a metal die made for stamping the title on the front cover. The cover image was sized to fit inside a frame-shaped die that I already had, so it would have the look of a framed painting on the cover. The cover image was printed out on an archival ink jet paper with a watercolor texture to preserve the look of the painting. The couple's names and wedding date were added in two of the "cells" on the spine of the book and a favorite quote was stamped on the back using moveable metal serif type. I also already had the architectural-looking Renaissance flower image in die form to stamp on the back cover with the quote. With all the elements in this book, I thought it came together very well and has the traditional look of an Italian leather binding. A book like this would cost around $290 not including the cost of the die made for the title lettering. Unfortunately, I can no longer get this exact type of tan leather. |
