Hair-On Calfskin Sketchbook
This sketchbook was ordered as a gift for a guy who just really liked hair-on cowhide! He had several other items made with this material and my customer wanted to know if it could be incorporated into the cover of a sketchbook. In this case, it could! The rest of the cover is Italia calfskin. The sketchbook pages are Strathmore sketch paper, handsewn so it is very easy to flip open and use. The cover decoration was kept to a minimum. The recipient's name was blind embossed in the lower left hand corner and a few decorative lines and a small corner decoration were added. I also used a Nepalese handmade endpaper that complimented the cover.
A book like this would cost around $240.
