Black Leather Record Book with Greek Lettering and Matching Clamshell Box
This book and box set is very simple in terms of decoration, but was made exactly to my customer's specifications. This book has a page size of 6" wide by 9" tall and the book is roughly 2" thick. My customer wanted a paper for the pages that would withstand the ink of a fountain pen without allowing any of the ink to bleed through. After mailing out some paper samples to my customer, it was decided that a cover-weight white paper would work best. This book has blue swirled French marble endpapers and the cover is black goatskin leather with Greek lettering stamped in silver (a die was required for the custom lettering). The book also has raised cords on the spine and a ribbon page marker. The custom clamshell box is made to fit the book exactly and it is done in the same black goatskin leather with black vellum book cloth edges. The Greek lettering is stamped on the front and spine of the box. Sometimes less decoration is better!
A book like this would cost around $180, the clamshell box would cost around $190, and the custom die this size would cost roughly $52 bringing the total cost of this project to around $422.
