VERY  Large  Leaf  on  the  Water Wedding  Photo  Album

This wedding album was custom made to the specifications of the customer.  The customer wanted a very large wedding album; 80 pages with enough spacers to mount photos on the front and back of each page.  This book was about 4 inches thick.  They also very specifically wanted a book that was 12 inches wide by 16 inches tall.  This was a VERY large book!  And the customer also wanted black paper pages.  The pages were made with acid free and archival black Arches cover stock.  The customer liked silver, so the leaf on the front was cut from a handmade Japanese paper with silver swirls.  The same paper was used for the endpaper.  (Though the leaf looks white in the photos, it was, in fact, silver.)  The Leaf on the Water design was created with antique navy blue cowhide over built-up binder's board.  The stamping on the spine was accomplished with moveable metal type and hot foil stamping.  The words were done in silver foil and the decoration was stamped using a metal die and platinum foil.  Of course I had to add the photo of me holding the book so you can see just how large it is!  After making this book, I decided to set a limit for how many pages I will use in a photo album.  I've decided to set a 50-page limit.  This album had 80 pages and even though I reinforced it in every way I could think of, I still think you are asking a lot of a binding to hold a 4 inch thick book block.

This album, because of it's size, the time involved, and the sheer cost of the materials would be over $650.

Jo and Michael on their wedding day; this was their photo album.  Thanks for the photo!
