After the ouroboros sketchbook was completed, my customer decided she really wanted a protective box for it.  She wanted to incorporate more mystical themes and we settled on a raised Eye of Horus design with a glass human hazel eye.  The eye stood out better on a burgundy leather instead of the red leather that had been used for the book cover.  The red and burgundy looked good together, so the clamshell box was covered with burgundy pigskin leather on the front, spine, and back cover while the edges were covered with a dark gray linen book cloth.  There is some of the red pigskin leather that was used on the book cover behind the hazel eye which helps tie the book and the box together.  The box was made to exactly fit the book including paper-covered foam-core "bumpers" in the lid so that the raised ouroboros design would have some air space and not rub against the inside of the lid. 

A book like this would cost around $350.
