Presentation  Box  Presented  to  the  14th  Dalai  Lama

One of my best customers asked me to create a box that would be presented to the 14th Dalai Lama when he came to Rice University in Texas to do a series of lectures.  This box needed to represent Rice University and therefore, it was made in the Rice colors of gray and royal blue.  My customer sent me the metal University seal medallion for the front of the box.  This box is held closed by a hidden magnet under the medallion; completely invisible when you open the box.  The box opens from the center.  On the inside of the lid are permanently mounted an inscription on one side and a printout of the all access press pass for the event on the other side.  The bottom of the box contains a photograph of a prominent building on the Rice campus and this is matted under real glass with a frame of board covered in the same royal blue bookcloth as the square surrounding the medallion on the front.  This box was to be filled with a program from the event, a folded Tibetan prayer scarf (kata), two DVD's, a small book about Rice University, and several pins from the center where the seminars were held.  All of these items had very specific size requirements, so the size of the box was made to fit all of the items.  This was only possible because my customer was actually able to mail me all of the items that would go into the box.  It was a great pleasure to be able to create something that was presented to a great man who works so tirelessly for peace.

A box like this would cost around $375.
