Cowboy Book & Box Set
Page size: 7" x 8 and 3/8"
100 lined pages of acid-free, archival paper in off white with light brown lines.
Pages are handsewn in signatures with cotton thread (by sewing the book this way, it will lay open completely flat).
Endpapers are handmade brown marbled paper. They ARE handmade, but not by me. (see photo above)
Cover is made with two colors of leather over board. The dark leather is dark brown cowhide which is an overlay over the tan leather cover. The tan leather is heavy sheepskin.
Book spine is decorated with raised leather cords with blind embossing on either side.
Made with all archival adhesives.
This book was entirely handmade from start to finish.
The box that comes with this book is an entirely handmade clamshell box. The sides of the box are covered with eggshell linen bookcloth. The front and back cover and spine are covered with dark brown cowhide leather (the same cowhide that appears on the front of the book). The box is lined with archival Arches Cover paper.
There is an antique salvaged metal window pull screwed onto the front edge of the box. You lift up on the pull to open the box.
I will not sell these separately. They come only as a set. The box has been custom-made to fit the book exactly. This is a hefty little set and has a nice weight to it.
This set would make a wonderful gift. The blank book would work very well as a journal and the light tan leather will darken with age. You really cannot clean the tan leather of the cover, but marks just add to the character of the book as it is used by the owner. The box is the perfect storage place for the book.
