This journal was created for a customer who likes bright colors.  As you may have noticed while looking around the gallery page on my website, most book leather comes in dark or muted colors.  More vibrant colors can be found, but they are expensive.  This is about as vibrant as book leather gets!  This customer liked things with an ancient look as well as Celtic themes.  This journal/sketchbook is a smaller size; around 9" tall by 6" wide.  It has roughly 225 pages and is around 1 and 1/4" thick.  The cover is made from purple and turquoise blue goatskin leathers.  The cover is accented with silver lettering and decoration.  The spine has raised bands with silver Celtic knot decoration between the bands.  This book as two long leather thongs attached to the back cover with rivets that wrap across the front edge of the book (laying in the grooves visible at the front edge) and wrap securely around the riveted leather circles on the front cover.  This little book has a lot going on in terms of color and decoration, but I really like the result.

A book like this would cost around $350.  (Partly due to the cost of the more vibrant leather which would be special-ordered and is not something I usually stock.)
