I created this journal for my Canadian friend and fiber artist Carol Iwaasa. You can view some of Carol's amazing work on Facebook by typing KooWool into the Facebook search box. She does amazing felted wallhangings and things like hats with eyeballs on them. So I had to make her an eyeball journal with a vague Canadian refernce.
This journal has roughly 150 pages of unlined off-white paper. The page size is roughly 12" wide by 8" tall. This book has lovely handmade marbled endpapers (handmade, but not by me) and the cover is burgundy pigskin leather over multiple layers of board.
The cover has a raised dragon's eye design accented with gold and copper pigments. The raised design morphs into stamped maple leaves in a variety of colors (brown, burgundy, copper, and gold). The eye itself is a taxidermy eye. Carol's name was added to the front cover in copper using moveable metal type and the name of her fiber arts business is on the spine.
