Butterfly Baby Journal & Album
2-Book and Clamshell Box Set
I love return customers! This customer previously commissioned one of my favorite books; the Northern Minnesota Topographic Book with Lake Superior Agate (as a gift to her husband-to-be when they were married). This time, she and her husband were expecting their first child and she wanted a very unique journal and album set. She wanted to start writing in the journal when she was pregnant, through the birth and into her child's first months. She also wanted a separate photo album. She wanted the books to go together, but not be identical. She liked the idea of the butterfly theme and did not want traditional baby colors (yeay; no pink!). She wanted something that her child would keep and treasure for years to come that looked like a nice book set; NOT like the typical pink & pale blue baby books. She really loved the sage green and medium blue combination. But this sage green cloth does not take the foil stamping very well...so I came up with a design that used the sage green as an accent and all the stamping was done on the medium blue linen cloth which DOES take stamping well. The journal and album were the same dimensions (the album was thicker, but the covers were the same size) because ultimately she wanted a custom clamshell box that both books would fit perfectly in. I really liked this set. Please note that stamping the butterflies around the edge of the box is not something I typically do (to stamp on the edge like that you need to stamp the cloth BEFORE it goes on the boards, then line it up just so...it's a bit tricky). The album & journal were photographed together before the final stamping was added to the album (the birth date was added after the baby was born;...the journal was sent ahead first). I may not be willing to do stamping on the edge of a box again. However, I AM willing to give special attention to returning customers.
A set like this one (one journal, one album, and a clamshell box to store them both in) would cost around $465.
