Butcher  Chart  Leather  Recipe  Book

This book was created to hold a chef's recipes.  It was a groom's gift from a wife-to-be to her husband-to-be.  He enjoyed cooking pork and his wife wanted to give him a blank leather cookbook with a pork butcher chart stamped on the cover.
This book has 200 pages of lined 8.5" wide by 11" tall paper, resulting in a book that is around 1" thick.  The cover leather is a lovely British tan Sokoto goatskin leather that was ultimaely treated with clear wax to make the color appear richer and to give the leather a bit of protection.
The butcher chart pig is stamped on the front cover using a metal die, hot foil stamping, and black stamping pigment.  Lettering was added to the spine using moveable metal type, hot foil stamping, and black stamping pigment.  I'm happy that my customer wanted to keep the decoration on the cover to a minimum since that really lets the beautiful leather show.

A book like this would cost around $240 P LUS the cost of the die used to stamp the butcher chart on the front cover.  In this case, the die cost around $80.
