Very  Large  Book  of  Shadows  with  Carved  Celtic  Knot  and  Horse  Design

This massive Book of Shadows measures 13 and 1/4" wide by 11" tall by a full 3 and 1/8" thick.  It contains 450 blank, unlined pages (that's 900 page SIDES you can write on).  The pages consist of archival and acid-free Mohawk Superfine Text paper in smooth finish soft white.  This paper is very easy to write on with everything from ballpoint pens to fountain pens (ink does not bleed on this paper).  The cover is black pigskin leather over binder's board.  This book also features two large brass buckle-and-strap closures.  These are attached to the cover with rivets that go all the way through the cover (VERY secure!).  This book has raised bands on the spine and the cover is accented with red foil lettering and pewter stamped decorations.  The main feature is the intricate raised and hand-carved relief image on the front cover of a horse inside a Celtic knot.

I spent many months working on this book; much of that time devoted to hand-carving the raised design on the front into the underlying cover board.

This book has pages that are hand sewn in signatures with 100% cotton thread.  Hand sewing in signatures (folded page sections) means that the pages will lay open entirely flat; all the way to the back edge of the page.  As you can see in the photos, this book has a lovely silver and gold swirl design on black endpapers.  This book was assembled using all archival adhesives.  It is made to last and made for years of use.

A book like this would cost $600.
