Appian Way Journal This blank journal was created for a woman who was moving to Italy. A friend wanted to give her a journal that had some connection to where she was going as well as to the idea of travelling the road of life. The customer chose a photo of the famous Roman road the Appian Way and I translated the photo into a raised cover design that wraps around to the back cover. The roughly 7"x"8.75" cover is a reddish-brown pigskin leather with gold pigment accents and the initials of the recipient in the lower right corner of the front cover. The original Appian Way photograph was doctored in Photoshop, printed out in a sepia tone, and printed on the first page along with a quote by the Roman emperor who built it. A book like this would cost approximately $325. |
